Well, the pittsburg pirates as a baseball team right now are doing awful, as they are dead last in their divison so i'm not sure if you really want to keep rooting for them as a fan or what (i would if i liked them enough...i know how to deal with pain as i'm a red sox fan)...
but if you want to be a real pirate, I'd say go for it!

Perhaps, if you enjoy malnutrition, scurvy, months without the company of women, seasickness, keelhauling, and the body odor of an entire crew of illiterates who bathe less than once a week, and then only in seawater.
