I am living in a tropical area and mold and mildew occurs frequently inside closets, on everything.

I am living in Brasil, and the winter season is in full bloom, which brings with it lots of rain. Mostly everything is open, so there is no escaping the dampness.

I'd have to say a dehumidifyer would be your best bet (to put near & pointing towards your clothset). I live in MN and have lived in Jamacia and I know how WICKED humid it can get. Try that, otherwise just keep your clothset door open on the bad days. Good Luck!

Try putting a low wattage (25 to 40 watt) bulb in the closet. It can be left on all the time. It will both dry out the closet and drive the humidity out. If a greater watt bulb (100 watts) is all that is available leave it on in daytime only. This should be enough to work and you won't have the light on at night. Be careful not to get it near clothes, etc to cause a fire. This worked for me in SE Asia.

I don,t know where you live, in Canada you can buy a small fan for $10.00. This is the best solution for your problem. It takes very little power. Let it run in your closet all the time. And your clothes will smell nice too.
