How come so many love to hate this woman? I've seen a lot of people here quick to call her a talentless hack, or a has been who was "good in the 80s, bad now", and I'm curious as to why that is. I think if anything, she's proven herself to be a better artist than she was in the 80s. Yeah, her image was fun and spunky and a little bratty, and it sold, but it overshadowed her true talent. People also forget that she was 31 when she started out in the game, and that image was just that-- an image, although she's not a phony, airy fairy kind of person.

For years now (longer than I think people realize) she's shown a different, more capable side to herself. Her career isn't over by any means, unless all anyone cares to look at is her commercial status, which in this day and age is what seems to be important.

If you look past that, you'll see more vocal range and talent and true personality than you probably expected. Go see her live!
She deserves more credit and recognition.

She just doesn't sing or play the kind of music that I enjoy listening to. But I don't think that she's a waste of flesh or talentless. She's just not what I choose to listen to.

People say that they hate things without truly understanding the impact of the word hate. I mean really. The only way I could hate Cindy L is if I met her and she was a raging ***** to me. You know I can't hate someone that I've never encountered. And I certainly can't hate someone based on the fact that we have different musical tastes.

Besides her incredible 8-octave vocal range (yes, that's ALL the notes), her appearance has actually improved with age. I was indifferent to her in the 80's (didn't listen to that genre of music), but have grown to respect her talent AND personality since then.

besides the actual incontrovertible reality that i recognize Madonna for her potential to sing, dance, and market herself, i recognize Cyndi Lauper. i pass for the cutesy look and that amazing toddler voice. yet in a motherly way, in case you'll say something stupid.
