The Americans came and broke the dead lock in Europe the fight was trench warfare and trench foot was invented during the conflict. WWI was the first war to see the use of a tank. The surrender of the Germans was unfair because the allies placed all war debt on the German people and this debt later spawned Hitler to power causing WWII. The war was started by a French & British blockade of the Baltic or Black Sea thus blockading all german exports and was in its self a attack of war. Also President Wilsons 13 point plan was thrown out and we (USA) were not represented much if any at the treaty of versaille

On November 11, 1918, an armistice agreement was signed between the Allies and the Germans. The formal state of war ceased 7 months later with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919.
Starting with the Hundred Days Offensive, August 8, 1918, the Allies started pushing back the Germans in France. By October, it was clear that Germany could no longer mount a successful defense.

WW1 ended on November 11, 1918. The reason it ended is that the allies won an unconditional surrender from the Germans by force of arms, just as they did in World War 2 against the Axis powers of Germany, Japan, Italy, Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria, Vichy France and Finland among others.
Today, wars are run by gutless, pandering politicians, the media and the very short attention span of the great American unwashed who not only have no knowledge of history, but are unconvinced that anything exists which is larger than themselves and their own comfort.
If we had to fight WW2 with the media and whining, victim-mentality population that exists in America today, the people east of the Mississippi would be speaking German and to the west; Japanese.

It depends on the countries involved. Although an armistice came into being in 1918, technically a state of war existed until the finalisation of a peace treaty. For France and Germany, that occurred in 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles. However, the United States never ratified that treaty, so a state of war existed with Germany into the 1920's.

WW1 ended when the Germans were beaten.
The armistice (signed November 11, 1928) included many limitations that Germany accepted because they had little choice.
-----------------------------------
End of War
After a failed spring offensive the German fell back to the Hindenburg Line. The Hindenburg Line was a string of crucial defense fortifications. This line was held until October 5th 1918 when the Allies took full control of these fortifications. At that time the Third Supreme Command, realizing Germany was beaten , gave control to Max von Baden and the Reichstag. On the 11th of November 1918 Armistice was signed. Three months later The Paris Peace Conference occurred. Although over 28 countries attended (representing over 75% of the world population) the Conference was dominated by the five countries most responsible for the Central Powers defeat. Eventually five treaties were agreed upon. Each one was named after five Paris suburbs Versailles (Germany), St Germain (Austria), Trianon (Hungary), Neuilly (Bulgaria) and Serves (Turkey). The treaties forced harsh punishment on all of the Central Power countries. The Versailles treaty was not ratified by the US Congress.
The Main Terms of The Treaty of Versailles were:
(1) the surrender of all German colonies as League of Nations mandates;
(2) the return of Alsace-Lorraine to France;
(3) cession of Eupen-Malmedy to Belgium, Memel to Lithuania, the Hultschin district to Czechoslovakia,
(4) Poznania, parts of East Prussia and Upper Silesia to Poland;
(5) Danzig to become a free city;
(6) plebiscites to be held in northern Schleswig to settle the Danish-German frontier;
(7) occupation and special status for the Saar under French control;
(8) demilitarization and a fifteen-year occupation of the Rhineland;
(9) German reparations of £6,600 million;
(10) a ban on the union of Germany and Austria;
(11a) an acceptance of Germany's guilt in causing the war;
(11b) provision for the trial of the former Kaiser and other war leaders;
(12) limitation of Germany's army to 100,000 men with no conscription, no tanks, no heavy artillery, no poison-gas supplies, no aircraft and no airships;
(13) the limitation of the German Navy to vessels under 100,000 tons, with no submarines;

Did you ever hear of Armistice Day? The eleventh day of the eleventh month? That's when WW1 ended. The war began in 1914 and lasted until 1918, at which time the Germans surrended.

It ended on November 11, 1918 at 1100 hours. Why? Cuz they ran out of money, men, arms, and ammunition, and had to wait 21 years to resume as Part 2 or WW 2.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (1918) it ended because American participation combined with food shortages in Geramany had tilted things severly in the favor of the allies (The German's weren't crazy in WWI they knew when to give up)

there are one of those the clarification why a conflict can commence. faith, over land all styles of stuff. As im indian i comprehend there's a small conflict occurring between us sikhs and Muslims in Punjab. (its the border between Pakistan and India) the clarification why the conflict is going on is because Sikhs favor Punjab to be our land (like Muslims have Pakistan and Hindus have India) notwithstanding the Muslims needs the land to be theirs. It then became right into a small conflict. besides the actual incontrovertible reality that that is small that is spreading round to different places the position Indians and Muslims are. like the capturing of the non secular guy that were given shot by Muslims because he became Sikh or something. Im no longer attempting to be racist yet it really is how stupid those wars get. many stuff has happened between Indians an Muslims that if it consists of on then it may develop into WW3 for us indians a minimum of. i might want to pass on and allow you to comprehend about the splitting of India and Pakistan. now THAT became undesirable. My mum's aunt became a muslim yet had to remodel right into a Sikh by using splitting of Hindustan(India). She ended up dropping her kin because of each individual operating from the indians and muslims etc. She ended up having to stay with my mums Uncle. He thankfully hid her from the indians that became going round searching for Muslims. yet there became a topic she became a Muslim no individual would marry her which will propose the indians would of got here upon out that she became a muslim. So my mums uncle married her and he or she switched over. properly this is purely my opinion. may no longer be incredibly undesirable for you yet undesirable for us.
