I'm in the DC area but would go anywhere that could be enjoyed actively by our daughter and us. I'm not looking to dress up or to dip into my retirement account; maybe we'd stay for three or four nights. I've looked at child-friendly brochures from Smugglers Notch, Disney, and Club Med (Florida, Dominican Republic) but I am open to any suggestions, especially if you've been to the place.

Thanks.

Thanks to Indy_Steve for requesting some more details. I'd plan to go in summer but would consider going in winter. My wife is a teacher, so we can only go during the peak seasons (unless I go south of the equator). And yes, budget is a significant consideration but not the only one. We can afford a vacation once in a while, but I'm not going to stay at the Ritz unless someone else is nice enough to pay for the room. Thanks again.

I will assume that your budget is a major consideration in addition to the other stipulations. Also you did not state when you wanted to take your trip. So I have to assume you are looking for something "warm-weather". Having said that, there are several Resorts that are "Child-friendly":

1 -Disney World
2- Disneyland
3- Certain Club Med locations
4- San Diego(they have LEGOWORLD--real popular family destination)

At these locations, there are Hotels and Resorts that fit your criteria; in addition, they usually have specials going on year-round(I am Owner of a Travel Agency therefore the info is readily available to me).
