i get this error message on my laptop pleassssssssssse help me....?

Question

this is what the message reads: the device in the system modular bay cannot be identified. it may bot be completely inserted or may have some other problem. please complete the following steps in order
1.press the device completely and firmly into the bay
2 power off the system
3 press the power button to retry detecting the device
press esc to ignore error and continue
i dont know what the modular thing is but i power off the laptop and i still get this error message. OH and btw my son dropped teh laptop and then this problem started happening. thank you all.

could it be the cd drive? i got this message...and on my laptop i was able to remove the cd drive and reinsert it..and the message stopped comming up

I'm surprised to see that the computer is still working at all after being dropped! Check that CD like the last answer said, if that doesn't do it, try right tic on My Computer and select manage, in the left pane , select device manager, expand the tree and see if you see any yellow exclamation points on anything there. If there is one, uninstall the device and reboot the computer.

Well take the cd drive out and see what happens. If message goes away, then reinsert it , making sure it is fully seated and see if problem reoccurs.

It's very possible that this condition could be caused from not knowing how to type using uppercase letters where appropriate.
Perhaps an remedial English course could help.

Try blowing on the connectors. if a pin on the connector seems out of place, you might've broken it.
