Fostex soap. Is the absolute best. It works for dry, oily or t-zone. It's very expensive (anywhere from $6.00 to $9.00 a bar) but you only use it on your face and it works wonders.

Don't use a wash cloth, only use your finger tips (balls of your fingers). Don't pick, fingernails are poisonous & cause long term damage & scarring, don't squeeze this bruises your skin causing more redness & will persist for days.

Keep your fostex soap in a separate soap dish with no lid, let it dry out during the day. It will last a long time.

To get the pores open either invest in a reasonable facial steamer & use it every other day or twice a week...no more than that & use it at night before you go to bed. You can also do facial steaming with a sink of hot water & a huge towel to cover your head & the sink...however a facial steamer is so much easier & economical & you don't run the risk of as many accidents as trying a 'sink with hot water' method.

Another great product is Ponds cold cream...just the plain Ponds cold cream...it's a classic! It has less ingredients than most other products. It's great for taking off make up & doesn't disturb the natural PH balance of your skin. It will also moisturize your face (which you do need to do, even if your face is oily or has a T-zone) without having to use any additional moisturizers.

Also what type of make-up are you using? Your make-up might be compounding the problem. When possible, say weekends or evenings, go make-up free to give your face a chance to breathe. Covergirl is an economical brand of cosmetics that you can pick up reasonably at any major retail store (Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart), it has several oil-control products.

Just remember sometimes the simple solution is the best solution.

Best Wishes! :-)

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.

The secret is never to touch the spots

Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

The same thing happens to me sometimes too with that product, I tend to get a little oily. The reason this happens is because it dries your skin out, and then your skin overreacts and produces LOTS of oil. Try using it only once a day, or try switching to a gentle cleanser and exfoliating with the microbeads twice a week.

First, consult a dermatologist if possible.

If the first option isn't available, you can try several over-the-counter topical medications. One that I've found to be very good in my practice is a product called 'Acne Getaway' (no kidding -- that's the name). It has a very good success rate and has very few potential side effects (as compared to many topical applicants).

By the way, washing with just soap and water usually doesn't do the 'trick' as you've already found. The reason is multi-factoral: acne can be caused by a number of things including hormones, dirt, bacteria, compression, abrasion, genetics, some food allergies, and a few more things. That's why I highly suggest seeing a dermatologist.

i have very oily skin.... use a product with benzoyl peroxide like those stridex pads. use clean and clear facial scrub make sure it has benzoyl peroxide in it ... between washings... every time u go to the bathroom just run real hot (as hot has u can stand it) water over ur face... then pat dont rub, dry then use cold water to close ur pores that should help ease the oily skin and the facial wash will medicate your acne also a good product to use once a week is queen helene's green mask.... about $5 at a local drug store it always works for me

the best thing I've found for it is like, and I hate saying this, Youthful Essence by Susan Luchi!! hahhahah

Its just a home dermabrasion kit, its like less than 100 bucks. On the infomercials all the time. It cleans the pores and then shrinks em. It also gets the dirt below the surface because it removes the dead cells at the surface so you can reach the dirt!

As crazy as it sounds, the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) might work for you. You're probably washing your face too much, making the oils go crazy trying to get onto your skin. It's natural to have SOME oil on your skin, and washing it all away is making your skin pissed off and making even more oil. If that makes sense? Anyhow, check the links below - yeah, putting oil on your skin to make it less oily sounds really weird, but I swear by it!

Girl, I gots the same problem as you and I have no idea how. I surfed the yahoo answers and maybe try Pro-Active to get rid of zits and all of that. I havn't tried it yet, but it was required by over 8 people so I bet its pretty good. Hope that helped you a lil bit.

well if you have acne then i would suggest Proactive. Yes that stuff really works, my lil sister had so many acnes and it seemed like nothing worked for her. She also went into depression because of it for few months and then we discovered Proactive. i mean it worked liked magic. Now my lil. sister is proud to be herself and it also helped build her self-esteem. Also if they are minor and not as severe as acne, then try Neutrogena Cleansing Pads, it's a little orange box, with 60 pads in it, that work in 8 hours. If you use it twice daily, one in morning and one before going to sleep, your skin will be cleared in days. I tried it and it works great for me. I am not as severe as my lil. sis. I get whiteheads and zits once in a while and once i get them they seem to stay forever. I use Neutrogena it really works. I mean u should really give it a try.

One thing about washing your face...you need to make sure that you aren't using cleansers that are harsh to your skin, or scrubbing too much. This actually aggravates your oil glands and can make you break out worse. Also, hard water can really play havoc with your skin. If nothing else works, try washing your face with filtered/distilled water.
