If a soldier indeed does something that is agaisnt UCMJ and foreign laws, then he deserves the punishment. The whole thing is that the media likes to blow things out of proportion, take things out of context, make the news the way they want according to their views and beliefs. All this puts soldiers in a very difficult situation. Our men and women are over there fighting an unjustified war, but it was not the soldiers that decided to start the war, they are mearly pawns in a corrupt governments game. We need to stop pointing fingers at our soldiers and tackle the real issues about this war. Our soldiers do their duty wether or not the war was justified, it's their job. Also they not only do their duty, they have to for 2 reasons. 1. Most important is to stay alive, there are many who want to kill them. 2. It is their job and obligation as american soldiers to do so. Every war has injustices, violations of human rights, and just plain unethical situations. We should not let a few incidents from a few soldiers change our outlook of all the soldiers or we'll have another Vietnam, i really hate how the soldiers then got treated after coming home. Tackle each issue individauly and don't generalize.

Well, since they are currently only suspects, we should accord them the basic rights we all expect; to be considered innocent until proven guilty. I think the investigation should continue. If the prosecution feels there is a case against these soldiers, then they should be tried. If they are convicted, then, and only then, they should be sentenced like any other person that did the same crime. If the prosecution does not have the evidence or if they are found not guilty at trail, then they should go free.
The press does such a wonderful job of convicting people with out all of the evidence and without benefit of a trail.

Maybe instead of just shooting them on the spot, we should investigate the allegations and see if there is any truth to it.
By your question, are you jumping right over the presumption of innocence and convicting them because of the seriousness of the charges?
If the charges are true, and if convicted, they will be dealt with in a very harsh manner, but why don't you wait until that is determined before you pose the question of what to do with them.

The same exact thing that would happen to them if they were civilians in Texas and did the same exact thing ... the gas chamber.
They give the majority of soldiers, who are good people, a bad name.

They should be tried and sentenced. What they did was horrible and immoral. The rape of this woman and the murder of her and her family was not what they were sent over there to do.
