I have seen him 9 times. We both agree I have ocd. But, he says I might be bi-bolar, I might have adhd, I might be unipolar, I have borderline personality disorder traits etc...Will this guy ever come to a conclusion, or should I go somewhere else? I mostly feel like a highly intelligent basket case who functions amazing well--good at hiding it.

You should go in the next time and ask him this:

So, how long have you had this indecisive problem?

I think that you shouldn't go to any psychologist. I have a belief that no matter what, you don't need medication for mental problems..you can overcome them. OCD is not such a problem, but if you think that your mood swings are pretty bad, then maybe you are bipolar, but then maybe it is just because of hormones? Nobody will ever know, so you're better off not wasting your money and trying to solve your own problems, but of course it may not be easy. Try to find some help on the internet.

Absolutely you should see someone else if you're not comfortable with his diagnosis. Psychiatry is not an exact science. There are different ways to approach similar problems. You need to have the right fit between a psychiatric and patient. It's a partnership. If you had a complicated physical disorder, you wouldn't hesitate to get a second opinion. Your mental health is just as important.

Just remember, all psychologist are crazy, that's why they studied psychology, to explain it to themselves and help others understand their problem. My grandmom has ocd and she's fine, she cleans any little thing in site and complains about the weirdest thing, but she worked as a secretary in the government for 30 yrs, retired and is living off her pension and my late grandpa's social. How do we know she has ocd? My dad's a psychologist!

By the way all the "sicknesses" you mentioned are all intertwined so he's just throwing it out there to see if any of it sticks to how YOU feel. All psychologist will say the same.

I have the same problem! My shrink has told me all of those exact same things and i'm like can't you make up your damn mind? She just frustrates and confuses me more.
You can stay with this shrink if you want and feel comfortable with him but i think you should go see someone else (either both or just a new one) to get another opinion. Maybe the new one will know less.. but maybe he'll help you in every way you need him to. IT NEVER HURTS TO TRY!

You need to find a psychologist that will do a good psych-eval (or psychological evaluation). You need to go to a different psychologist to have this done because the guy that you are seeing is already biased. A thorough psych-eval will tell them exactly where any problem areas are. The test takes almost all day, and in San Antonio it costs about $450.00.

If you have any doubts at all about your dr then you should find a new one - you sound like you are in a vulnerable place right now and you need to be able to trust someone who is going to be treating you.
Also you may have what are called 'Tendencies' to certain disorders, and some of the criteria can overlap.

When I hear a string of diagnoses like this...I think something is wrong and they just can't figure it out. I'd try someone else. It might be simple, like maybe you're just too nervous and it's as simple as general anxiety disorder, brought on by stress.

Or maybe...you just need a man!

After 9 visits he should at least have a diagnosis. There are a lot of bad apples in the psych. field, unfortunately. Find a better Dr.

If your questioning it at all,you may want to get a second opinion. It's very hard, from what I understand,to give a diagnosis on such things. You may also have a mix of disorders.Be as open as you can. They aren't allowed to disclose any info you give them.Best Wishes!♥

There are tests for many of the disorders you have cited...if your shrink hasn't given you any than I suggest going to a different one.
