Any minor league baseball teams in your area? He a fan? Minor league games are cheap to get into, and as much, if not more, fun to attend than a pro game.
Make it a day by packing a picnic basket (some stadiums allow you to bring food in) and sitting in the grass past the outfield wall/fence. If they don't allow food, you can always have the picnic at a park close by before or after the game.
Since it is the July 4th weekend, most teams have a nice fireworks display after the game is over.

Mini golfing.
Go to a coffee shop and talk.
Put the kids to bed early, order takeout from your favorite restaurant and have a picnic, just the 2 of you.
Go to a bookstore, pick out a book that interests the 2 of you and sit down and read it together.
Wash the car. Doesn't sound like much fun, but it can be if you have a playful attitude about it.
Rent a movie.
Go for a walk.
Cook a special meal together.

Go swimming, frisbee, waterfight, beach, raquetball, volleyball, kickball, go to target and get giant frisbee, or badmitten, (really fun). Go rollerblading, rollskating, bikeriding, or sit and talk in a nice quiet restaurant over a cup of your favorite wine, or coffee. Play some fun games to learn about each other, (the ungame, or a book with questions--ie, "If"), split up ideas, You pick one, he picks one. Go to a drive in movie, go see a loccal outdoor concert, or see a play. Play touch football, or something that get you play restling. Do something that brings out the kid in you. Have fun

Of course, I don't know your man, but I am one. Mostly, we're pretty easy.
Make a picnic lunch. Find a nice park or lake to eat it next to. Hold his hand. Tell him you love him and that you're proud to be with him. Take a long walk. Tell him your dreams. Ask him about his. Later on, take in a movie. And, of course, take a bath together and then make love.
