After World War II, Iva Toguri (aka Tokyo Rose) was fined the equivilant of $80,000 and sentenced to six years in prison, for saying
"Orphans of the Pacific, you really are orphans now. How will you get home now that your ships are sunk?"
What Al Gore said is far worse, far more damaging. If this was 1945, Al Gore would be stood in front of a wall, given a last cigarette, and executed by firing squad.

"What possesses a former vice president of the U.S. to travel to the birthplace of Islamist terrorism and denounce his country?" asked the website Investors.com in an editorial.

Gore's comments were not directed at the troops, they were directed at the corrupt administration that sent them to the middle east. He was just letting the world know that most Americans do not agree with the war in Iraq, although we support the troops. We want the world to know that not all Americans agree with the policies of the current administration and it's plan to "spread democracy". I think that is the current reason the administration says our troops are still in Iraq. Last year, their excuse was WMD. The administration needs to quit lying to the American people, admit they were wrong, bring home the troops and let the new Iraqi government govern the Iraqi people. We need to stop being occupiers. The only people who would lose by a total troop withdrawl are the oil companies that are subsidized by the tax dollars of the American people and the blood of our troops.
The war in Iraq all boils down to oil. We need fuel, sure, but the technology exists where we can get it from alternate sources if the administration would subsidize it the way they do the oil industry, production could be up to what Americans currently consume within a year.
As for Al Gore's comments, I did not find them to be directed at the troops and if anything, he was giving a growing faction of them a loud and clear voice..."BRING US HOME"!!!

Al Gore wants to be President but does not have a view to be one. He therefore caters to the anti-American clique in the world and hopes it gives him stature outside the U.S. since he has none here. He is rather clueless, except for inventing the Internet. Don't forget that he and his wife were the models for "Love Story" as well!!!!

Al Gore is a spoiled child. He is the kid that we all grew up with, he brings the football to teh game and demands to be the quarterback. Then when he doesn't get his way he takes his ball and runs home crying.

Kwahaddi gave the best answer. I could try to top it, but I'd fail.
If speaking the truth sheds a negative light on someone, who's fault is that? Should he lie to us like our administration does on a daily basis?

If the truth degrades the "soilders" so be it.
I support any man or woman courageous enough to speak the real truth.
If any one should appologized it should be the US military and its Presidunce to the entire world!
Fascists!
