good way to start a redneck fight. For a REAL answer go to www.msnautos.com and research your desired vehicle MAINLY the reliability. I've had some really POS chevy's but there is one problem- cars are machines and the only thing a machine is guaranteed to do over time is BREAK. Toyota is my make of choice my 2000 4runner is the greatest vehicle i've ever owned. I think that american car manufacturers try to make profits off of parts and labor (way more money to be made than selling new cars) rather than sell you a quaility made vehicle that lasts. There are always stupid sensors breaking on american cars. A japanese car is built to last by honest corporations. There are always exceptions: my chevrolet astro van got about 280,000 miles before the trans came apart but the engine was still strong. Either way to answer your question directly a FORD b\c i've never owned one and couldn't form a fair opinion until i did...

I've owned a Ford in the past (Ford Focus) and it fell apart on me. Worst car I ever had...so out of the two, i'd rather have a Chevy. I did just buy a Mazda 3 though and i'm loving it! :)

I would rather own a ford mustang if you are looking at cars, but when it comes to a truck I'd rather have a Chevy!

Actually I have had a couple of fords that were great vehicles..But as a choice I prefer GM products..Have had a few toyotas as well but never really received what I would call good service from them and repairs were always expensive... But I got to tell you before I will walk I will drive anything...As for being caught dead, what does it matter? ...your dead...lol

My personal preferance is Ford but I must admit that the GM 3800 V6 is a pretty reliable engine. The 3100 is a piece of junk.

IN FORD YOU GET QUALITY CARS LIKE THE FUSION,IKON,ENDEVOUR AND THE ALL NEW FIESTA.GM ALSO OFFERS NICE CARS LIKE OPTRA,TAVERA AND THE AVEO.IF YOU NEED QUALITY U CUD GO FOR FORD AND IF YOU NEED LOOKS U CUD GO CHEVS.BUT I WOULD LEAN ON FORD COZ FORD HAS A HUGE NETWORK WORLDWIDE, IS CHEAP TO MAINTAIN, AND GIVES A BETTER MILEAGE THAN THE CHEVS.FORD IS ALSO GOOD ENOUGH IN LOOKS TO SATISFY U.SO GO FOTR THE FORD.
