When you obsess about something, you think about it all the time and can't help thinking about it. Compulsion is when you can't keep from doing something. For example, you may be obsessed with washing your hands, but refrain from actually washing your hands. When you have a compulsion to wash your hands, you can't help but wash your hands. The difference between obsession and compulsion is the diference between thinking and doing.

An obsession is a thought process. A compulsion is associated with an activity.

OCD can manifest in a lot of ways. One *stereotypical* way is the obsession with cleanliness that leads to the compulsion to clean.

I urge you to talk to your doctor about your diagnosis in terms that ensure you are communicating well. It can be difficult to ask the same question over and over again - but you owe it to yourself to gain understanding of your condition and what it really means.

Obsession is something that you feel HAS to be had or done. Compulsion is something you want but know you don't HAVE to have.

Obsession - something you constantly think about.

Compulsion - something you do spontaneously.

I think those are right. I don't know.

I agree with impossible except that compulsion is something you do because you feel you have to even though you have no rational reason for feeling that way.... I guess
