White people do not have a good sense of their history. That is probably the problem with this country.

You are correct that anyone born in the US is an American citizen. People use Mexican American or African American to show pride in their cultural heritage. There are "white people" who do that ie. Italian American, Irish American, etc. but a lot of Americans have been here for so many generations of mixed heritage that they do not identify with any one country.

Yes, if someone is born inside the US, they are immediately a US citizen even if the parents are not. I was born in Canada, but on a US Air Force Base, so I was a United States Citizen. Same thing for US Military Bases around the world. Hope that helps!

well, europe is a continent, so if you wanted to be specific, you would name the european country before saying "american" to be exact. Saying a person is "Mexican American" or "African American" doesn't mean they aren't American, it just means they have an influential country that they claim heritage from. Many "European Americans" don't really have that, since most of them are mixed. You'd have to say some complex thing like, "Danish English Polish Italian American".

The Indians were here first so they have American before their name {American Indian}and everyone else has American after their heritage name {Mexican American} etc.! So your right they should be called European Americans but since when has any governament done anything right concerning other nationalities......But.........
I think its partly taken into consideration how many generations were born here before you are considered just "American".
Good Question. I have been studying my ancestory for quite some time now and that question has popped up before. Im proud of all my ancestors. {Im an Indian,Scottish,Irish,German and American!}But since all my people have been here from the beginning I just say American. Unless of course Im speaking with someone who is also from a different nationality and we are sharing ideas. We should all be proud of where we came from.
And I dont think your racist for asking a simple question! Dont let people bring you down! Peace and may God be with you!

Yes, by deffinition, any one born in the US regardless of race, color or creed, are Americans. I am one of those that get tired of the titles like Japenees American, Italian American, African American. I am part Cherokee, Irish, English, French Canadian, Chinese, German, Welch, Scotish, and Dutch. But I am ALL AMERICAN. I think we should be proud of our heritage, but by throughing it in everyone elses faces all the time, we alianate ourselves and others. I say, Mexican or American. Just pick one. Either a Mexican that will go back to Mexico, or an American with Mexican heritage. (nothing against mexicans, just going with the example given.)

It's a clause in the constitution or bill or rights something like that, that if a child is born on U.S. soil (including territorys, and military bases) that child is considered an american citizen.
I identify as European American sometimes, but it really depends on the person as how the want to be addressed.

Yes. Anyone born here is an American citizen. The constituion provides for that. A lot of people cross the border to have their baby here for that very reason.

Excuse me, chief runs-mouth-without-concept. Oh, you're Indian/close by American proper? I advise, you truly won't be able to be white coz, as all people with an IQ of above -2 is popular with, each and absolutely everyone in us of a got here from a diverse us of a. (anticipate for the "pink skins" close by American/Indians) Who about do u imagine you're? Your father and mother would no longer were born in Russia, or Europe, or in any of the different international places on the planet which aren't any more us of a, possibly your grandparents weren't, even per chance thier father and mother weren't. yet you could guess your truly ignorant @ss that in case you flow back about 4 or 5 generations you'll discover that one among your ancestors got here from a us of a which could no longer us of a. You human beings are ignorant to the point of blindness. "i do not want different races coming and ruining issues for those persons that're from right here." If different races hadn't come to us of a, the in person-friendly words human beings there will be the tribes of close by individuals/Indians. all people who would not comprehend that's an fool. all people who would not comprehend that about their own us of a should be shot.

I agree with yo on this,
I'm full Mexican technically,
but I was born/ raised in California,
but I'm not considered "American"
just mostly referred to as Mexican or Mexican American,
its all quite odd really.
white people are mostly just American or at least that's what they're considered but
someone people to refer to them selves as other things,
I guess it all depends on who you're talking to .
and how open minded some are or aren't
(hehe sorry I don't know if any of hat made sense. I sort of just kept talking... )
