I actually have 2 answers which I would consider to be valid.

The first answer is defense. When a bug lands on your skin and walks over it, it sort of tickles. This is natures way of telling you that there is an intruder on your body.

The second answer is potential pleasure. Have you ever noticed that most people are the most ticklish in places which can be considered erogenous zones? The bare feet are quite often the most ticklish place of all but a nice massage feels great there. Some ladies love to have their feet worshipped as many ways as possible. The armpits are also a very ticklish location and for some people, a light touch is very erogenous there. The neck and the ears can be very ticklish as well as the inner thighs.

If you are a person who has been spared the tickle torture abuse that some parents/siblings/uncles…. force on children - there is a very good chance that you could find playful, erotic tickling very pleasurable. The most important thing is that TRUST, RESPECT and a DESIRE TO PLEASE are all in place before the tickling begins.

It's kind of an instinct. It's a reaction to being uncomfortable and feeling threatened. You laugh because you know that there isn't actually any danger.
