maybe try talking to him about what would happen if your relationship changed. How would certain dynamics of your friendship be different. like could it possibly ruin your friendship. If you talk this out, maybe you can move on to a serious relationship, or maybe you can agree that its not for the two of you now, and possibly later. Either choice should bring you guys closer. good luck

I can only base it on what I am currently going through myself and it's probably not the same situation but here goes. I've known this guy since he was 4 and I was 5 (30 odd years), we grew up together and played together and all that stuff. He only lives a couple of doors away from me still! He has just split up from his second wife and has 3 kids in total, 2 with him permanently. I've never married and have no kids. This is the first time we have both been "single" at the same time and it is only now that he's making moves. I've asked myself if he's doing it out of desparation because all he really wants is a family life or maybe because it is only now that he realises he can talk to me and we have a good laugh. Like I said before, we grew up together and I cannot remember us arguing at any time. After I've talked myself through all of the above, I come to the conclusion not to "go for it" although it would be easy option A but to leave well alone and keep saying that we still should be friends. I basically have 5 reasons not to go any further with this, eg. 2 wives and 3 kids. So that is how I made my mind up although I'm still asking myself if "he's the one?" I've realised also that girls just over think things out when really the answer is already in front of them. Best of Luck!
