What would have happened to a white mayor if they were to suggest making their city a marsh mallow city?

he would have been publicly tormented until he gave up his seat then again there is your double standard

No, it wasn't racist. Nor would the white mayor's statement However it was shallow because now persons who feel they don't "fit" in that category would not want to be a part of what he's trying to accomplish. Mayor Nagan made his preference as a public notice. Now we know where he stands.

If you listen to his whole speach (rather than just the sound bites repeated on the news), you will notice that he was using "chocolate" as a metaphor for racially intermixed. As in, when you make hot chocolate, you mix dark chocolate and milk together.

So, no... I don't think he was trying to be racist - just the opposite. I do think he was mis-quoted and a little unclear in his message.

Absolutely it's racist.

The white mayor would have had the NAACP all over them with lawsuits.
