I've been reading and answering some of these questions, and I'm completely horrified at how bad the writing is. I swear, most of the people asking questions don't seem to be able to spell or even frame a coherant sentence.

Is it the schools? Is it laziness? Are most of the questioners 11 years old? WTF is going on here?

Public schools are run by liberals. They can't find China on a map of the world but they feel really good about themselves.

Great question. You are right there are so many people who never read and they write very little. The teens and early 20's are least likely to read of any generation in a long time. They do not read papers, or news magazines, they call the news boring. And the worse id they will not read a book outside of school. So many of them have no plans on going to college, because they are going to be an actors, or singer, or artist or athlete. These people can not point out Mexico on a map bu they can tell you who a rock stars first gf was or what their favorite is.

I've actually pondered the same question and think that it can be summarized as follows:
We have a lot of "kids" today who are putting their thoughts down via a keyboard, the written word from our youth is disappearing quickly as far as the old fashioned pen and paper go. These kids have never taken a typing class and try to make up for their lack of speed on the keyboard by using short-cuts and hitting keys without watching what they are doing. Now granted, their is a "Check Spelling" button right at the top, but we all know that until they turn 25 they are smarter than you and I are.

I think it has to do with instant messaging and chat rooms. They try to abbreviate everything. Then when it comes down to actually writing something, they no longer know how to spell. I am glad you axed the question. (sorry just a pet peeve of mine, I hate it when people do that)

It's not just you...I'm also amazed by the writing I find on here or anywhere else on the web. I think the general intelligence level of our country is dropping. Scary thought.

Good question. I really like the "paralyzed falcon" - GREAT! The saddest part is that there IS a spell checker - all they would have to do is press "check spelling". Thanks for the question, you made my day.
