My husband wants to take his kids (from his previous marriage) somewhere nice for Spring Break next year. What are some good places that won't cost a fortune. The kids live in Canada, so we need to go somewhere warm for a change! Also, we'll be flying out of Calgary, so we need something that is convenient...we don't want to spend our whole trip in the air!

The kids are 14, 12 and 9. So no places with a bunch of drunk teenagers!

Thank you Tyrus. Once again, you provide useless advice. We aren't staying home or I wouldn't have asked the question. Idiot.

I would suggest coming to So Cal for the spring break but have you considered going to Vancouver?

Harmony Air has great deals flying from Calgary to Vancouver, and Vancouver has so much to do there! They have the shopping, the mountian, its not far from Whistler, and then catch a Canucks game.

Or... if you do want to visit Southern Cal...
Come to the Arrowhead Pond and see the new logo for the Ducks! Laugh!

Well, A car is a must in the LA/Orange County area.
LA is about 30-45 minutes north of Orange County and has historical places to visit and ethnic places like China town and Olvera (little Mexico) Street.

You can also go and see the expensive shops on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, go to the funky Melrose Avenue, or the famous Farmer's Market near the CBS studios.

Also theres universal studios and the City Walk, a place with shops and restaurants. Off Hollywood Blvd there's the famous walk of fame and the handprints at the Chinese Theatre.

Springtime baseball may have exhibition games.
LA has also the Dodgers baseball team and in Orange County the Angels. Check their schedule for baseball games.

Also in the OC is Huntington Beach, home of Surf City where they play the pro beach volleyball and have surf competition.

You can take the harbor cruise in Balboa and check out the expensive homes, see where John Wayne and other celebs used to live, and possibly see a sea lion upclose.

There's some of the "must see" that I would suggest to someone visiting with kids.

South Padre Island, Texas is superb, its an island off the end of Texas about 20 minutes from Mexico. Or Panama city sea coast, Florida is a wild time with white sandy beaches and crystal sparkling water, a great number of places to social gathering.
