Movies made into books or books that were made into movies?
There is a vast difference.
Your local library will be able to provide many good choices, add a few classics, like Little Women, Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, Sense and Sensibility, Taylor Caldwell does good historical romance novels with plenty of detail about a particular era in history, try reading Quo Vadis, Ben Hur, or adventure like I Married Adventure by Osa Johnston, she might try a little sci fi with Joan Vinge's fabulous Psion, the sequel Catspaw, and the wowser The Snow Queen. It all depends of course, on her taste, but these are all good books spanning different subjects, most of which have not been made into movies...yet.
Enjoy a different summer, read on.

Maxium Ride by James Patterson. He just came out with a second. How about the Outsiders, Harry Potter books, early Steven King books like Carry, Fire Starter, Cujo etc. Go to a library and ask.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
If she likes fantasy try Anne McCaffrey, the DragonRiders of Pern series or the Unicorn Girl series.
The other answers were terrific, too!

I love the Gossip Girl Series by Cecily von Ziegesar:
-gossip girl
-you know you love me
-all i want is everything
-because im worth it
-i like it like that
-you're the one that i want
-nobody does it better
-nothing can keep us together
-only in your dreams
I also like the It Girl Series by the same author:
-the it girl
-notorious
gossip girl series is about a group of teenagers that live in NYC and their life. the first book starts in september of their senior year of high school, and then the recent last goes through to the following summer. it is a wonderful series.
the it girl is about one of the characters from the gossip girl series who was in the 9th grade while the other characters were in the 12th grade. the story follows her to boarding school in NY. i suggest that if you want to read the it girl, to read the goosip girl series all the way up to book 8 then read the it girl. that way you know the characters background.
