Particularly when the first 3 directly contradict the First Amendment principals of freedom of religion and freedom of speech?
1-3 contradict Freedom of Religion
Also, adultery is not a crime in the USA (regardles of it's moral standing)

I'm sure there are more contrasts between the TC and US law that I'm not thinking of. So why do people claim the US law is based on the TC?

Casey:
You said 'The first three commandments do not contradict freedom of religion if you are christian, right? Only other religions.'

There are people of multiple religions in America who are no less citizens protected by the law. This is the point of Freedom of Religion--there is NO established state religion. Not Christianity not atheism, not anything.

Many of the foundations of laws were built upon religious values.

You say adultery is not a crime in the US? Well, that's kind of true. The United States government cannot make adultery against the law. However, individual states can. I do not know of any states that have adultery as a misdemeanor or whatever.

However, the Uniformed Code of Military Justice lists adultery as a punishable crime.

The first three commandments do not contradict freedom of religion if you are christian, right? Only other religions.

I'm just unsure why you've put so much thought into this.

Because this country was founded on the basis of freedom of religion (amongst other freedoms). Also, a lot of government buildings have, or used to have, a statue or monument of the 10 Commandments in front of them. The whole "Government based on Religion" argument has gone on for a while and is pretty controversial. I always thought religion was supposed to stay out of government, but it doesn't. Sometimes we elect presidents based on religious beliefs.
My opinion: The "religious right" has twisted the 10 Commandments and tried to apply it to everyone's lives even when they don't really have the right to do so. A lot of people would be a lot happier if we would all just stop trying to make everyone else into a carbon copy of ourselves.

Adultery is a crime in many places in the USA. Our society is founded on Judeo-Christian morals, traditions, and beliefs. There is nothing that happens in the USA that isn't related to the contents of the Bible. Why not? What other society would you live in that is not formed on Biblical ideals?
