October is when we usually see our first snow of the season. It's usually nothing to write home about though. Bring a jacket anyway. Even without snow, it may still be very cold.
Always check www.weather.com the night before you leave. The weather here is sooooo unpredictable here.
I've seen sunshine, rain, hail and snow all in one day before!!! It's CRAZY!

Afraid Mama's right.....October is pretty unpredictable when it comes to snow. Most of the time, it's pretty nice temperatures. Generally, most of the Front Range receives the most snow in February through April.
Even in the mountains, there's not that much snowfall yet in October. Loveland, Steamboat, Winter Park, are some of the first ski resorts to open every year and they usually open around mid-October. But it really depends on how much snow they get. The lower elevation resorts don't open until much later.
If you're planning a trip just for skiing, I'd hold off a month or so. There's no guarantee there's going to be powder to play in in October.

The weather in Denver is very variable at any time of the year. October can have warm, sunny days with temps in the 70s-80s, or we can have a blizzard. There's no predicting and no generalization. If you're expecting snow, you may be disappointed.
