How did the Watchers council know Buffy was going Sunnydale? They sent Giles to Sunnydale knowing somehow she would move there, for all they know Mrs. Summers could of turned around and headed to another town and they would been sitting there wondering when Buffy would arrive.

I always think of The Watchers Council like a British CIA...They have spies everywhere...The show was to take place the summer after the movie, so they already knew she was the Slayer and she had already been partially trained...I am sure they had people watching her...Also, they sorta answered this question in 'The Wish' episode when Cordelia wished that Buffy had never come to Sunnydale...

The Watchers probably also were somehow monitoring Buffy. Her mother most likely puchased the house before moving to Sunnydale, so the Watchers were able to send Giles ahead of time because they knew Joyce had bought a house in Sunnydale.

That's a very good question. Maybe circumstances were engineered in such a way that Mrs Summers would have no choice but to move to Sunnydale. For example opportunities would have been put her way in the way of job offers which she found irresistible , in turn other opportunities would have been denied to go else ware thus leading her to Sunnydale

I thought that Giles was sent there after Buffy arrived. If that is not the case, well, you know that the Watcher's Council has all kinds of psychic and wiccan powers. So, they probably knew that she would be going there.

Yeah but remember Buffy knew who she was when she lived in LA. Her watcher was killed (the reason she freaked at first about Giles) and she was kicked out of school for burning down the gym. (mentioned alot in the 1st and 2nd seasons)
