Maybe because it hurts, and you'll do anything to not get your ear twisted again.

Ear Punishment

2016-11-05 04:41:30 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

I am Canadian, both my parents were born in italy
The common punishment for myself was not ear twisting rather something was thrown at me (useally a slipper) or when i was really bad the wooden spoon would come out of its hiding place.

I have gotten my ear twist before i think the reason why people do it is because it HURTS like hell DURING and AFTER i hate that brurning sensation. I think its to reminds oneself not to do it again.
And it physically does not leave any marks. ( Except red ears and if it happens alot Maybe your ears will get bigger lol)

Ear twisting is an ancient way of punishing the kids particularly if they are only studying or getting too mischievous. Ears has got reflex points when twisted it forces the blood to rush in the body mainly activates the brain by proper blood circulatin and waves are generated immediately. You will notice it if even grownups do ear twisting vigorously try at for 3-4 minutes and then you can feel it. It corrects the behavior too by inducing temporary pain.

It hurts, and is very effective. Has anyone ever pulled/twisted your ear? If so, then think about that emmence pain that you felt, not just DURING the twisting, but after as well... it continues to hurt so that they can remember the pain even when you're not doing it anymore while they're sitting in "time out".

Because the ear is a very sensitive part therefore when someone twists it, it hurts like hell. Some prefer ear bitting (tyson...) haha.

Aside from any possible sociological explanations, none of which I know...

I'd have to say "because it's a painful and embarassing way to drag someone around and force them into an awkward posture, without needing a whole lot of strength."

If I twisted a student's ear I would probably be fired by the end of the day.

It feels like someone tearing your skin during the pulling or twisting, and it aches and burns after the pulling or twisting. It is also a bit embarrassing if done in public.

Because it's effective.
