There are so many of us who eventually have to face this situation. You can not change other people or control how they act BUT you have all the power in the world to control how YOU act. Be professional and cordial because this will only work towards your benefit. This is your job. Don't let anyone ruin that for you. It may be difficult but you'll be a lot less irritated if you keep a reasonable distance and maintain short , professional interactions. And exhale afterwards and let it go. Don't hang on to the irritation after you're gone home. Leave the bad feelings behind. It will make going to work so much easier.

Most of the answers were quite good. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you can't work with them. If she is uncooperative or abusive, never talk to her. Avoid her completely and you will have no problem. If you must talk with her to get information and she refuses to give the info, let your boss handle it. In 40 years of work I've only encountered an employee that rude once. I found another employee who was able to give me the same data and my problem was solved. Believe me, you'll have far more difficult problems to deal with than what you have now. Good luck.

You will have years of dealing with people you don't like. Do not do anything petty or be unkind or inconsiderate. As an earlier answer said, be professional, and only that. Get your job done and work well with her. If it is unbearable, look for new work.

Suck it up, this is real life. This is what you do for an income. You're going to be a better person for treating everyone with fairness and respect whether you like them or not.
