With so many MC's constantly repeating the same old topics over and over again (black power, thug life, how much money they have, etc) over new beats, it's so nice to hear an artist that's original, intelligent, hard hitting and doesn't follow the same old format just to make $$$

Canibus = can-i-bus being that his style of rap is battle.
LL is not lyricist?

rf186, most people have no idea what a lyricist is or how they differ from your mainstream rap artist, their depth of hip hop extends no further than the dial of their radio. Anyone who believes that LL's rhyming was tighter than canibus didn't listen to much more than the beat, kinda like reading a book, by only looking at the pictures?
Canibus may be one of the most prolific artist of our time, as he may change (however slightly) the direction of rap music, much like KRS-One, Public Enemy & Easy E as these aren't always the top sellers, but they brought something new that somehow changed hip hop. It's nice to see KRS's name mentioned earlier on this topic as what KRS-One did through the late 80's & early 90's is comparable to what Canibus has done for hip hop recently. This (for all hip hop lovers) is very imporatant to the evolution of hip hop, just as well as the people mentioned earlier who shaped hip hop before him. Most of the people who don't "get" canibus, simply are not intelligent enough to grasp the depth of his lyrics, as many of his lines tend to be "double speak" and he uses names/words that are often a little bit more complex than a newpaper (which are written at a 4th - 8th grade reading level)

What canibus does is more than conscientious hip hop, it's like listening to KRS-One blended with mos def & ras kass, while having a mental IV drip being siphoned from the mind of einstein.

The simple fact that his name is Canibus makes him just like every other rapper/hiphopper: thug life and money are both jumping at me when I see that name. You lose.
