Rock just isn't very popular at the moment but I find that music tends to go cycles. Right now hip hop is popular. I happen to enjoy many forms of music including hip hop and rock. I read a comment that someone posted about the men in hip hop wearing lots of bling and having half-naked women dancing around them. I grew up with MTV and can remember many a rock star having half naked groupies taking off their shirts and being thrown all around the stage in their videos also. I don't believe that the form of music is the cause for the women being mistreated but simply the way women are treated in our society in general. Hip hop is not the cause of the problem.

HAHA i completely agree with what user SHAKIRA said. Wtf IS up with hip hop music? *rolls eyes*
Anyway, rock music is amazing. Depends kinda what genre of rock music you're talking about, but mostly it's incredible. Because it's catchy, there's amazing guitars, and (hopefully) really good lyrics.
As for the "image" thing..well...different bands have different images. Some are cool, some are good and clever, and some are just LAAAAAAAME. (*cough good charlotte simple plan afi cough*)
Although, I dont think those first two bands even qualify as MUSIC let alone rock music. HAHA.
Oh and please check your info first before posting. I mean seriously. Green Day is the band that sings Wake Me Up When Sept. Ends, and they don't headbang, nor do they scream. And that's ONE mainstream wannabe punk band's image.

There is a form of rock music called shock rock, which some people also refer to as the Vincent Price school of music. Those musicians are, generally, trying to startle or creep-out their audience. I suppose it's appealing for the same reason horror films are. There are also a lot of other forms of rock & roll, most of which are a lot more popular than shock rock.

Rock has alot of creativity behind it and yes sometimes it can be dark and scary but life has its shadows. So we can accept the darkness and take our negative fealings and do something constructive with them.MAKE MUSIC. Rock is real. Its an energy, it inspires people to be themselves no matter who they are.i dont understand whats up with hip hop ? it all sounds the same and there is absolutely no message behind it. i dont get it. Its so popular lately and all it promotes is a very negative morality and ignorance. Music is art and i do see talent in the instrumental parts of hip hop. but the messages in it are rediculous.

First of all when September ends is a song by green day. They don't scream at all and i really don't know if you would even consider them "Rock". More than likely all the "metal heads" on here think your hip hop is just as discusting as you think our metal is.

You're only talking about Green Day.
Take a look at other rock music other than Punk.
Indie rock is pretty tame for someone who is "scared" of thosemainstream punkers.
Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Arcade Fire, Metric
Yeah, they'll make you like rock... a different kind of rock..
Queens of the Stone Age is what I like though. :P

Rock Music is awesome, its fun to Headbang. In rock music, you can let your feelings (mainly anger) out into the songs.

That's how the people who listen to rock music feel when they see you wear Roca Wear, bright red nail polish, short skirts, and lots of hair spray. We get creeped out when you hip-hop people freak dance to Daddy Yankee and shout stuff like "Oh my god! (Insert name of moderately good looking singer) is so hot!" Seriously, we get scared. I mean, we're just like you, only we have different clothes and music tastes. Just talk to one of the 'scary' kids. If you get on their nerves, they'll say something to creep you out, but if you're nice, and you're not acting fake, they'll give you the time of day.
