Majority of them are good, but you need to find out which one works best with your skin. After years of researching about this, I think every brand earns some recognition for one or two products, but they do not do well in others. So, my suggestion is to keep an open mind.

In my opinion, don't spend tons of money on expensive department store makeup. $12 for some eyeshadow is simply not worth it.
One might argue that you're getting "quality", but most of what you're paying for is pretty packaging and the company label.
Great drugstore brands are NYX, Revlon, Milani, and Rimmel. These recommendations are based on glowing reviews from women on makeupalley.com.

I use Clinique (foundation, powder, lip products) and Merle Norman (eye shadow, mascara, eye liner). It's my favorite, even though the prices are a bit higher than other brands. It goes on smoother, lasts longer, and doesn't break out my skin.

Clinique a bit higher price but affordable!!! I love Clinique superbalanced creme foundation and stay matte powder, but for more varieties of color for lips and eyes, I stick with Avon.

Depends on what you are asking of.
I love mascara from Maybelline. Almost all of them works great! Shiseido and Revlon are my 2 favorite brand for foundation.
