I am referring to people forced out of their homes due to the war. I am not asking about foreign immigration.

Civil War - the last answer was about the American Revolution, or the War of Independence, the Civil War was the War Between the States. And no there were no mass migrations.

Back at that time a lot of Irish immigrated to the country and made up much of the military. They were offerd a big paycheck
( for those times ) and were recruited right off the boats on the docks into the military. If you watch the movie Far and Away with Tom Cruise you get a glimpse of it when he arrives in America.
