My friend is only 14 and she says she's in love**?

my best friend who's 14 has been "dating" a boy that lives near us for over a year now. she says that she really loves him and that they're getting married. i mean, i have to admit it: most teens our age don't even stay together for more than 2 weeks. i couldn't be happier for my friend. after all, it is her first boyfriend (yea!) BUT i mean we're really young and we have all the time in the world to think about marriage. do you think they will eventually break up or do you think they could possibly stay together. have you ever heard of a couple who's been together since they were 14?

Well, talking about marriage is nothing more that the result of being very happy with the preson she's with. But never say never.... My aunt+oncle are together since they were 15 and they know each other since they were babies...!! Also, the parents of one of my classmates are togethe since they were 14-15 too!!!.....

She may think that she's "in love" and it's very possible that she is. First loves are very strong and the people involved get swept away in the feeling. While over a year is great, especially for kids you guy's age, 98% percent of relationships started before or during high school don't make it past age 22 and of those that make it to age 22 only 3% stay married/together. So while it's not impossible, it's not likely that they'll make it for too long. Be supportive and be there for her if/when they break up. She'll need you if she's this invested in it.

Is her father present and active in her life? That would be a clue. Usually relationships at 14 fizzle, they are more physical then anything else...and that just doesn't cut it in the real world. It just depends on your friend and her boyfriend and their mentality, but very few are together from age 14 on and married, very few.
