The question you should be asking is "What are you interested in doing for a career?"
Let's get straight to the point. There is no universal best first job. And it doesn't have to deal with how smart you are. You should never be ashamed of anything you work at, because if you do, you're in the wrong job.
First, find out what you like to do. What do you want to do? What are your interests? Since you're old enough to hold a job, then should be old enough to be thinking career. What are you going to do when you get out of school? Are you going to college? Are you going into the military? Are you going straight into the work force? What do you plan to do for a living?
When you find the answer to these questions then you're half way there. Now find something related to the field you'd like to have a career in. Anything. Just make sure it's a job you'll be able to learn something you can apply to your career.
Don't worry about hours and pay, that will come. I'm not saying do it for free, but generally, no experience comes with a low price tag. You'll increase in pay once you gain more experience. But, don't be afraid to intern in something if you don't necessarily need the money.
Use that first job as a stepping stone. Volunteer to learn more. Ask a lot of questions about the business. It will only help you later on; in job interviews, for promotions, experience for resumes, or even at your next job. Every little bit counts.
There are obvious first jobs/careers and some not so obvious. Aprofessional athlete might start out as an equipment manager while growing up. A pastry chef may start out in fast food. Business owners, marketers, and brokers probably all worked in retail/sales at one point. Just do your research. You don't want to be 30 and wishing you had done that summer internship that could have gotten your foot in the door to a great career, but you passed it up to work with your buddies down at the movie theatre. Everything has it's stepping stones.
The key is to find what you may want to do for a career. Then do your research into how to get into that career. Finally, jump right into that first job that can head you the right direction. Don't be afraid and certainly don't just do a job for the money, cause in the long run, no matter how much you make, if you're not happy doing your job, you're not happy.

Arby's starts off at $6.50 and you get free meals on the clock. you won't find many jobs that start you off that well, and after just 30 days you could possibly get a $.75 raise.
