I have been taking the pill for about three months now. When I first started I gained ten pounds. I have been working really jard to lose weight and have lost 62 pounds. I feel that the pill is keeping me from losing more because ever since I started taking them I have maintained my weight no matter how little I eat and how much I exercise. I really want to stop taking them and I will if I can start losing wieght again. Has this happened to anyone else?

It has never happened to me but it did happen to a couple friends of mine. They lost all the weight once they went off it. If you need to be on birth control don't use the shot because it will make you gain more than the pill. I would check with your doctor and see if there is any birth control available that doesn't cause weight gain. Good luck.

According to the artice I linked below, "hormones can cause water retention, change fat distribution, and may even increase appetite due to anabolic effects," despite the fact that little research supports the idea that weight gain is a side effect of the pill.

I gained with depo provera, but never with the pill. And it wasn't that the shot made me gain weight; the hormones made me feel hungry all the time, so I just ate more. I had bad reactions to several kinds of pills, though, before finding one that's right for me. Have you tried various kinds of pills? Have you considered the patch or the ring instead? Talk to your doctor about options--it took me four kinds of pills to find the right one for me!

It never happened to me, but I know people that have gained weight, so maybe it depends on what type of birth control.

Yes! The same thing is happening to me right now, It's depressing. I don't know what to do either. I don't even eat that much and the weight just sticks to me.
