why do people think that dance is really easy when hello? u have to work ur butt off every day!!!?

i dance but a lot of people think that dance is easy;
they think that in ballet u hold ur hands above ur head and spin in circles when u really do hundreds of jumps where u get to seconds to get off the ground, point ur toes, land back down on the ground and pleeay!!! its not easy i come home from dance every day really tired and sore and im prod of myself so please give dancers some extra credit!!!

They think dance is easy because the dance they are talking about is the one you just make up on the spot. They are not thining about tradition and technique

Tootsie I'm proud of you. I really wanted to say that. They think that dancing is another kind of hobby that can be done without hard work and they take it lightly and unseriously (i hate that). When I'm choreographing they thought that it's easy to change the steps with something they like, but the thing is the steps should collide with each other. They don't think that you consider a lot of things before coming up with this steps, and they don't even care. I have a funny experience to share, there's a guy that thinks he is a better dancer and choreographer (even if he didn't have formal trainings) than me. One time we have this practice for a performance, it's not that big just a special number for school seminar. So he joined us, me and my friend (also a choreographer) lead the warm up he really tried to cope up. The day after the first practice he couldn't get up because his body aches. We were laughing a lot while he has his body is suffering from his stupidity. That's one way to teach ppl that real dancing is not easy!!!

I am VERY flexible. I can do a handstand walking forward while scratching my back with my feet. I can do an ariel and almost anything when it comes to Flexibility. Though dancers take some time of to practice, I was Practicing 5 days a week, every week. I work out 27 hrs a week!

dance is like a sport you train and practice eveyday
i eat sleep and breath dance cause i want to be the best
nobody can just go onto a stage infront of people and dacne and execpt people to be amazed
when i was in ballet some girl lied to get into a advanced class i was in and she had a hard time (she never done ballet in her life) and my teacher was really mad cause my teach is the highest paid ballet teacher in vegas.
i wis people didnt think eveything is easy
life is not easy how can they expect that dance is easy.

What prompted this? I don't think its a common belief that dance is easy. Both my kids have done it and I've seen and appreciate the hard work they put into it. Just because one person may have said this to you doesn't mean it is true. Quit worrying so much about what other people think.

i no i dance ballet and jazz it's so hard and my friends think they can do when it is so much harder than it looks u hav 2 b turned out and after glissades jumps and assembles u hav 2 plie 2 save ur feet and stay with the music i work my butt off every class

people think that because they never been told what really goes on and them watching dancing is alot easier than actually dancing.they also think it is easy because when they immitate a dance they usally aren't even doing right.i agree give all dancers credit it takes lots of work.

i know what you mean! dance is sooooooo not easy. all my friends make fun of me for being a ballerina and just spin in circles. i bet they couldnt last one day in my ballet class. like you said, im so proud of my self when i get home from dance class! dance is one of the hardest sports i know.

omg i know how you feel!
everyone in my school says that dance isnt even a sport when hello! its in the olympics! it really annoys me when everybody thinks that dancers are just prissy wannabe's i also think that we deserve much more credit than is given.

I've never heard this expressed, until now. I used to dance, and it's anything but easy- you're right it's hard work! Anyone telling you this obviously lacks the experience to know otherwise.
