AVG. Spybot is NOT an antivirus program. It is for spam, spyware, adware, etc.

If you are looking for a free antivirus application, there are three good programs - AVG, AVAST, and AntiVir - that you can download. A fourth program, Bitdefender, also has a free version, but it does not provide a realtime background scanner, only an on-demand scanner.

Of the first three, Antivir has been rated the best by a narrow margin, though the first three do provide good protection in general. My personal preference is for AVAST!; though its scanning speed is slow, I find it has the best real-time protection, covering IM, P2P, web, LAN, and local drive scanning.

all of the free ones suck. if you can collect about 20$ you can buy F-Prot. it finds everything on my system (although it has never found anything..ive checked and it is doin a good job) it comes with a scheduler to run updates / scans at specific times. it also comes with a tracker that watches what you do and when you open a certain folder it scans it real quick to see if its infected and if it is it will ask if you still want to open it and if it isnt it leaves you alone. also programs like Norton and McAfee used 100+MB of ram this uses about 2 at idle and about 10 when scanning.
