When I ride (which I take to mean drive) then I am in control. When I fly, not only is someone else in control but we are miles above the ground and the odds of surviving an accident are slim to none.

Because it can take you longer to fly than it does to ride.
It takes and 1hour to drive to airport, you have to be at airport 2 hours ahead of time, plane is 1/2 hour late departing, it takes 1 hour to fly to new city, it takes 1/2 hour to get off plane, it takes 1 hour to get luggage, takes 1/2 hour to get rental car, it takes 1 hour to get to destination. So anyplace you can drive in under 7 hours it is usually quicker to drive.
