Hello i can relate to you 100 %... I have been using contacts since I was 12 and I and 25 now... so about 13 years... at first it is a little hard because you not used to putting something in your eye and you might think your going to poke your eye out... that's normal... it took me about 2 weeks to get used to it... and only because i stop being scared. no i can put my contacts on and take them off without even looking into a mirror. its gets easier after a while....just try to relax and try them when your not in a rush and alone... i have found that if i am in a hurry or people are looking at me it makes it harder.... good look

i too have a stigmatism and contact lenses...nd personally i have no trouble putting my contact lenses in...if they hurt they might be torn so always check your lenses before you put them in...also you need to make sure they aren't inside out....theyre supposed to be shape like a bowl...if they kinda look like a v flip them.... and most people say the best way to put in contacts is to look up and slide them from the botom of your eye til its over the iris and pupil but i just lok straight forward and put them in...also soft contacts are much more comfortable then hard contacts, so check which ones you have...

maybe you should try to wetting your eyes first, then put the contact lense in finger tip(right hand). In front of a mirror, open your eye lid with other hand (left hand), and put the lense in your finger tip into your eye, slowly. after that, move your eye up and down, left and right to make sure the lense position is exact and comfortable in your eye.
You should do it slowly and relax, don't be scared. Imagine that you will be see clearly as normal eyes after you put that contact lenses in your eyes :)
and of course, your finger nail should not too long.
sorry bad english, I hope you understand what I mean... good luck

Just keep trying hon. If your stigmatism is large, and the contacts are made especially for each eye, you may just have them mixed up. If it hurts just remove them and try again. (It took me 45 minutes my first time and that was just for the right one!!) If you continue to have difficulty, go see your optician, usually an appointment isn't necessary. They can be a big help!GL

I don't think your astigmatism would be causing the pain. I think it might be that your eyes just weren't used to having a foreign body in them. Make sure you are using a good wetting solution for the lens, and try to calm down when you are putting them in. Once they are in, you really shouldn't feel them too much. And just think of how great it will be to wear eye shadow (if you are female!), not have your glasses fog up, and for people to see how cute your eyes are!

Call your eye doctor.
You may also want to double check and make sure there are no tears ,dirt, fuzz or lent on the lenses.
