I have lived there and moving back in two weeks, I love it.
It has all the infrastructure of any major American city, and its probably only 2nd to NYC and possibly 3rd to SFO in diversity.
Its never boring always something going on, Tons of great beaches, and the keys are only 1 hr away and key west a little over 3.
Assume you would be coming here on vacation if so stay on South Beach if you have the money if not stay on Washington just one street back. South Beach is great hundreds of bars, restaurants, clubs, shop etc and its electric.
definitely worth a visit.

I went there in 2003 with my family. Definitly not a place to go with your family. If your Single, I'd definitly reccomend it. All the clubs and stuff on South beach will keep you going day and night. Very Very Crazy drivers. if you rent a car, definitly get the extra insurance. and No Matter what hotel you stay in, everyone I have talked to said they are all very rude..

i live in florida. miami is not the same on what you see on t.v miami is either super rich or very getto and dirty

Yeah, but South PAdre Island, TX is nicer!!!!
