I think the worst thing is the ice. The bins rarely, if ever, get cleaned. If things get dropped in there, they sit for hours, days, months. Sometime when people are in a hurry, they dunk the glass/cup into the bin instead of using the scooper, which can add some contamination to the mix. Solution: ask for no ice.

Hygenic is not usually used to describe food...

So if you asking if it is safe to eat in term of the germ factor~ well, it depends on what day you go, who prepares it, how clean the surfaces were in which the meal was prepared on.

The gist.. in most homes, its "more hygenic" to cook at home than eat fast food.

Well think of this, a dirty cow is thumped in the head, hacked up and chopped to bits, then flour and water is mixed with yeast and allowed to "ferment" so it rises, then a tractor yanks heads of lettuce off the dirt and the Milk is kept at room temperature till it becomes dried out cheese. Yep, all sounds clean to me.

Just saw a young girl on Ophah's show that had done tests regarding this for a school project. She seemed to come up with contaminated ice a lot of the time. So the next time you order that coke or iced tea....think twice.....yucky ice!

If you mean, "Is it safe to eat fast food?," then I would have to say the answer is yes. Most are subject to very strict cleanliness rules. In fact, your home kitchen is much more dangerous, as far as contamination and germs are concerned.

Now, if the people there aren't properly trained, or if inspections aren't regular enough, they can develop problems.

No, look how many people handle it-how many times has it been frozen and thawed-how many flies and peter gnats are flying around in the kitchen-could it perhaps been dropped on the floor, ok I'll stop now.

Nothing can be ever really HYGIENIC. The closest would be a sterile operating theatre/operation.

I HIGHLY DOUBT alot of food(incl. fast food) is hygienic.

But hey, a LITTLE dirt never killed anyone... ;)
