If the U.S. is supposedly accepting of different cultures and different people, then why is it that stick-thin blondes are the only ones on the covers of magazines?

Who told you the U.S. was accepting of other cultures??? That's a joke. Yes, skinny blondes do take up a large amount of media space but they are not the only ones on the covers of magazines so spare me. The magazines are giving people what they want. There are many magazines that are devoted to other ethnicities as well. Magazines for people who like to look at fat people as well. Magazines only put what we want on the cover. If you have some kind of prejudice against skinny blondes then you don't have to make the purchase.

Er, they are not the only ones on the covers of magazines.

Athough they do get a lot of cover girl space out of proportion with the population.

I suppose it is because they sell magazines.

Oh, and I want to point out you were probably gazing at the whitebread mainstream retail racks.

You might want to go into other ethnic neighborhoods, and look at the magazines displayed there. The mix is quite different you know...

If the U.S. is so accepting of different cultures, then why are there still hate crimes and racism? The U.S.'s biases go way beyond who are on magazine covers.

Its not always blondes! But you are right about the stick-thin part. I don't know why people are so obsessed with weight right now! There is sooo much pressure with the celebrities and everything!

In order to sale a product, you have to appeal to the "wanted eye". Do you think they could sale a product if they put the fat Nicole Simpson on the cover. It is sad but true, America loves skinny blondes.

Becauuuse- that's the female image right now-- it changes with the decades-- it's sad how right now society worships skinny, big chested women.. but that's what it is-- just ignore it and be yourself! Only 3 million women in the world actually look like that--- out of 66 billion.

That's not always true. I've seen pleanty of brunette models, african american models, and mexican models. I think the only type of model I rarely see, would be an asian one. Don't play into the idea of stereotypical americans.
