What is the name of the shampoo product pitched in that commercial? (This question has driven me crazy for years.) Also, did it actually work?

As far as I remember from my long-ago youth, it was Clairol. I don't know if it worked, but I imagine it did, since it was just another hair-coloring dye product.

I believe it was White Rain Shampoo! I don t remember the grey part.
