We laid some pond lining down and filled it with water, now we're finding small larvae kind of creatures on the side in the water, how do we stop this without using expensive chlorine? Does salt work?

Probably mosquito larvae.

There is an insecticide called Bti (Bacillus thuringienis israelensis). It makes mosquito larvae sick. Does not affect humans. Available at most nurserys and pond shops. Read the label before using.

Also, if the pool is small, drain after each use, use the water to water the lawn or plants. Invert pool.

I found the best way to keep insects and leaves out is to try and keep it covered at night and when your ready to use it get a net and scoop out any unwanted bugs and debris. They also make a treatment especially for small pools and you can buy it at Walmart but that does'nt get rid of bugs just algea.

a little clorox, and if you can, make sure there is some movement in the water to deter mosquitoes eggs.
