Trafalgar was more important in changing history. I'm convinced more of Europe would've caved into Napolean if he hadn't lost at Trafalgar. In addition to slowing down the French & leading to the eventual downfall of Napolean, it made Britain the biggest European superpower. It cemented Britain's claim to empire for the next century, and made the British navy the model navy world wide. Waterloo was a last ditch effort to reclaim power, but Napolean didn't stand a chance at that point.

The battle of Trafalgar only served to limit the expansion of French power to Europe. With the 'Continental System' the imperial economy would have been able to hold out much longer. While a crucial step to the end, Trafalgar is not thus the more important.

Waterloo brought about major changes in the entire political structure of Europe besides just ending the threat of French aggression.

A similar comparision would be Thermopolyae against Salamis. While in itself a loss, Thermoployae was still a critical step towards victory. But not the victory itself.

We celebrate those battles and many different victories. with out those distinct the international will be poorer and speaking a diverse language. You your self are an recommended guy who little question would not be so if France or Germany ruled the international. the huge difficulty is not any individual ever says "thanks" to Britain (and the commonwealth) for the attempt we/you install to make the international safer. All we get is abuse.
