My best friend's daughter was treated at St. Jude for a Wilms tumor about 20 years ago. We still raise money for them in many ways, including St. Jude MathAThon for elementary school children. It was the best, most incredible facility for cancer treatment (and they were among the ones who had no ability to pay... but were flown back and forth for treatments, put up in Ronald McDonald House across the street, and treated like the very special family they were the whole time.)
My friend's daughter (even though she has multiple disabilities) still collects drink pull tabs for St. Jude (apparently they contain more usable aluminum for recycling than the rest of the can or something...) and she presented HER doctor with a large Hefty bag of them a couple of years ago as a gift :)
Yes, YES! I think it's wonderful that this child is raising money for St. Jude and I think all her ideas are wonderful. If she puts FUNDS FOR ST JUDE on a HUGE sign... people will stop, I'll guarantee it. Every single penny of money raised for St. Jude goes to a wonderful cause and I hope she raises lots of money! (In any event... she should be hugged a LOT for all her efforts!)

If there were a bake sale, people might be more willing to stop because it might remind them of church.
lemonade stands aren't all that anymore. I used to stop and my husband would think I'm silly but the other day, I saw a little kid picking his nose over the lemonade and decided maybe my husband had good reason for not buying lemonade from shady vendors. :)
really... if you make it look attractive and say it's for a charity and put some cute little kid out there, people will come.

I donate monthly to St Jude's Children's Hospital in Tennessee. It is a phenomenal organization and worthy of any and all the help it receives. It was built with love and continues to operate with love. Not only do they do they treat ALL children regardless of the family's ability to pay, but they are leaders in pediatric cancer research. I have never personally known anyone to receive treatment which is why I support them. To give thanks that my daughters, nieces, nephews are all healthy. And yes, I would absolutely stop to lend support to anyone willing to help.

I used to raise money for st. Judes, and they sent my school a packet of a few names that get treatment. if she is still in school, you can ask about the math-a-thon, you get sponsers and for every math problem you do, that sponser gives you 3, 5, or, 10 cents tward st. Judes, or you can get a flat donation.

make big advertisements to put around town...announce it in the newspaper and have them make a big deal about it.....call the radio station and maybe they can have a live remote from where you are at....have your event in a central location where people can pass by and see what is going on....tell her good luck....those folks sure need the money
