My name happens to be Delilah, and I've been told by more than one person that it's a popular name in the UK, so I was wondering if it was true.

Tom Jones liked it :)

Another site said that it means 'delicate'. Unfortunately Sampson's girlfriend delicately cut off his flowing locks and gave the name some bad press.

I can't find its popularity in the UK (it's not in the top 100) but here is a graph showing it's increase in popularity in the US:

I belive that there's someone in Emmerdale called Del which I think is short for Delilah. Also my neighbour had a cat called Delilah (her brother was sampson!). It's quite a pretty name though but would probably get shortened all the time to Del or Lilah which isn't that great!

well i don't know of anyone with this name although i don't know why, i think it's a very pretty name (once you get passed the stigma attatched to it because of the very lovely tom jones!)
