First of all I would say that if something that I value most was taken from me I would have the strength of spririt and character to begin with to be able to get through it. When anything that you hold dear to you that is taken from you it is a learning lesson. I realize that people lose the ones they love and don't see the reason why. It is easy for me to say now because I am not in that situation now. Its hard to accept the fact sometimes that we are ultimately not in control of the things in our lives that can cause us the most pain.
I believe the only way to re-discover joy in your life after a loss is to grieve the loss of whatever it is. You can't begin again if you can't let go of the pain. If you look at it this way what choice do you have? You can either hold on to whatever it is you lost by letting the pain overcome your life or you can choose to grieve the loss and live your life and value what you have now.

The first thing you do, and everybody does, I think, is mourn. You cry, but not as the saying goes, your eyes out, no, you cry your soul out. And once you´re done with mourning, you´re going to start with the blaming, who was guilty of it, who will I hate, basically you´re trying to turn your grief into anger, into hate, because hate keeps you alive, sadness doesn´t. How you rediscover joy? Go to a friend and ask him to slap you once and to tell you to snap out of it. The world continues to spin, just like Galileo said and it will continue in it´s movement without ever knowing you or your pain if you die, if you live however, if you try to get up, to get over it, maybe you will be able to help others who lost something they value as well... maybe, you will even make the world know you!

Your faith cant be TAKEN from you. The other things can come and go anyway. Get counseling to help you cope. Have a trusted friend to talk to. Turn to God. Do uplifting things, read uplifting books. Sometimes during the very roughest of times, just the sheer will to live gets you through. Good Luck

You get depressed. Then you either deal with the depression, find something else that'll be fun/meaningful to you, or die.

It is usually not a fast process and take years, however it is in our nature to live and deal with setbacks, if at all possible.

I am happy to say that I don't know what I'll do, none of us do untill long after we have to face that loss. Time does not heal wounds, it just softens the edges.

You adapt. As Humans We All Adapt. Everybody Has Lost Something At One Time Or Another,But You Have Got To Keep Your head up and realize that life goes on.Things will get better...They always do.

Mourn for a little bit, and then divert myself by taking the long view and look past the loss at more long-term objectives and philosophy. In other words, put the loss in perspective.

All the things you mentioned do not comfort people like simple, small material objects. If you take those away (and they are valueless to anyone aside from one person) the person becomes saddened and incapable of forgiving whoever or whatever robbed them of this comfort.

Cry. I died the day that Sunny died. I'm just a shadow of my broken heart and I'm only held up by the future and some of the ones that I love.
