Well, sounds like a trick question !
Anywhere in the states, it would come up in the east sky unless I was living on another planet. If, one morning, you notice the sun coming up in the west, then the planet earth has a problem and you had better head for the hills.

EAST, always EAST. Beacuse the earth ONLY ROTATES IN ONE DIRECTION. So we ALWAYS
see the sun appearing from the same direction. Changes SLIGHTLY (1-2 DEGREES) in winter and summer in northern and southern hemispheres to slightly south/north east; depending on hemisphere and season.


But the sun is always said to rise from the EAST.

east ... and i am in texas .. though it doesn't matter where you are, the sun always rises in the east and sets in the west.
