The security settings are there for a reason, because you are supposed to be working, not on IM, unless you can find a job that requires you to be on IM, I used to work at a HelpDesk and they required us to be on IM

I saw the link to meebo.com... Understand if you log in there with your username and password from any of those services, you just gave someone you don't even know the key to your account. Don't be stupid.

What you'll need is called a proxy. Altough some IT departments block them too. Here is a link for three ways to bypass the block
