Not only is it NOT rude, if you tip a rude wait person then you are doing a great disservice to the many courteous, efficient and pleasant wait staff that are out there. I around 25% for outstanding service, 15-20% for average service, and 0% for inadequete service which includes rudeness. I don't know about you but if I don't do my job, I don't get paid I don't see why waiters and waitress' should be any different.

If the waiter / waitress is rude, obviously don't tip, but also, leave either a little note or tell them straight up why they aren't getting a tip. A lot of waiters and waitresses out there will simply have a little tantrum and say that they got stiffed because the guest was cheap then they'll end up with sympathy from co-workers. Some people are so rude, they don't even realize it, so let them know.

Tips means "To Insure Proper Service."

No, it is not rude not to tip a rude waiter. Shame on him for being in the service industry and not serving well. Serving is an artful career, not just a short-term job you take to earn quick change.

I am a very generous tipper because I appreciate good service. An inexperienced server or an overbusy server can be excused. A rude server, never.

You get to a restuarant and the waiter/waitress is rude then they do not deserve any tip. You tip is a consumer response to service. Reward good service and leave no tip for rude people

If you have a rude waiter/waitress, I don't believe that it's wrong not to tip. If you want to make a "statement", then leave a quarter. But make sure that before you leave, you ask to speak to the manager and tell him/her about the poor service (being rude IS poor service) that you received.

I don't think it is rude at all. Do you know why because the tip is for their service. If the service sucks why should we tip? Right? I mean in order for you to be happy your waiter has to be happy and nice to you; not kiss your *** but I mean be serviceful. If they aren't then they need a new job and leave them tipless. That's my opinion on it. I usually tip 10% of my bill, if the service is good. But if the service is mild I tip 5% but if it sucks. I say no tip, and if it's a gratuity fee, then I say kiss my *** your service sucks. =)

No. Not at all. Tips are for quality service. Rude waiters/waitresses should NOT be tipped.

well in truth its you who looks rude and cheap ...
When out at a resturant always tip....
In the past i have been on the end of a cheap *** or two..

If you found the servies rude and felt that it was very bad
the trick is to tip a penny
this in the servies industry tells the person that there servies was bad and you did not like your experince...

This way u dont look cheap or rude ,
Instead the waiter or ess knows your motive...

I don't think it is rude. But is it the best thing to do?
If you are going to the same restaurant and likely see the waiter again, I would say watch out for extra ingredients in your next plates or bowls.
If you are somewhat sympathetic for someone who is working or trying to work but may have a hard day or he or she just can't help him or herself but being a jerk, you might want to give a little bit. Personally I tend to give them something despite bad service.
Call me weak....

The word tip is actually an abbreviation which means To Insure Promptness hence T.I.P. If the waiter is rude or wasn't prompt with your food he or she would get nothing from me.
