It depends on who they are talking to and what exactly they are talking about. If it is clearly initiated by the adult, and the minor is at risk for being molested or raped, yes, of course the adult should be punished. However, if it is an open conversation that was initiated by the minor, I don't see a problem with it. We do have free speech, after all, right?

well I would tell you that when a kid turn of age like 11 or so they start learning about there own body so most kids are curious about each other sex.
If will be up to the parents to sit them and explain this to a child so he can understand about sex and that it should not be talked about and why .
Kids will learn from other kids who do not have a parent who does not care about them and use the computer as there play toy.
Chat rooms should never be use by any kid who does not understand the language of others.
if they are old enough to understand then yes take away there computer as punishment for a week or so.

If we are teaching our youth the proper ways to go about having sex, it wouldn't be a big deal. Once you hit a certain age, people are doing it, you are seeing it on tv, you are curious about it... and sex is a very natural and fabulous thing... so I don't see a problem with it... as far as teaching your own children, I think having a sex talk at a fairly young age is a good idea, but I don't see a reason to punish them.

I think these minors parents need to take a greater role in their children's lives. It would seem these kids have too much time on their hands to surf the net.
Moms and Dads, take your kids out to do something as a family. I love to fish, and I've started taking my 2 year old out with me once a week. Its a start, and I intend to keep doing it.

We need to be careful about what we say, to ensure that we are not giving mixed messages.
We encourage kids to be inquisitive, and to seek out answers and advice.
Maybe its best to say that questions about sex should be specifically directed to their parents. Parents then have a responsibility to respond with a valid response.
For a parent to say "you are too young to understand those type of things", is not an acceptable.
The fact is that the child thinks they are, and they will go ask someone else.

I think punishment is a bad idea. It sends the wrong message about sex, that it is dirty and wrong. I would discuss with them that talking about sex in that way is not appropriate for young ladies and gentlemen. It should be okay for them on an educational level though.

they should also be punished(not jail)Take away the computer, phone, and all that's left to do is SCREAM AT THEM. make it clear that they could have been severly hurt(or killed). Or you can do it the old fashion way that i really perfer. Beat the s*** out of them!
