Just remember, the bible was written by men who, apart from having their own agenda(free will) had social ideals of the time within them, so by default put them into their writing. Also, the word 'abomination' was mistranslated from it's original meaning which actually meant something along the lines of 'different' or 'not recognised'. Many christians fail to believe what is actually in the old versions of the bible because it would show them up as believing only what they want to hear and of course, it makes it so much easier to feel superior to those that they see as 'wrong'.

LOL, I see 'hardtimes' is having trouble with the guilt stemming from his sub-conscious desires...

I see a lot of silly answers to your question, and a few good answers (well said, river otter!). This is a tough subject, and unfortunately, there aren't a lot of clear answers.

The Bible has been translated and heavily edited over the centuries. This is why there are so many versions of it... and none of them are the original.

So, at best, in my view, for people who follow the Bible, it should be used as a rough guideline, not an instruction manual.

Additionally, people have been using the Bible throughout history to justify this or that action, usually the action the person planned to do anyway. This means that your interpretation of the Bible is pretty much just as valid as anyone else's.

Two points I can make that may calm your mind:

One, nowhere in the Bible is Jesus quoted as saying anything about gay (or bisexual) people one way or the other.

And two, the most famously quoted verse of the Bible, John 3:16, simply says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." It says "whoever believes," and I see no exceptions made for gay (or bisexual) people.

I think the deiples address homosexuality in a few different places. But Jesus or God himself never actually addresses anything. These men (and only men) apparantly claim to be writing the words of God, but how do we know? I mean seriously so many things from the bible are contractory or disregarded. What should we believe? Also, it does not address homosexuality as we know it today, it does address homosexual rape, promiscuity, prostituion and adultery. But no one committed relationship between to consenting adults.

The bible is a book of parables, fables if you will, written to teach people about things they themselves did not understand. It's like explaining to your kids that childrn are brought by the stork, it's not real, but it's easier than explaining the birds and bees to a three year old. The bible was not intended to be taken literally, on most parts, and if homosexuality is soooo wrong, why isn;t it a commandment? I mean the basic rules of life are the commandments right? I mean they cover most of what we would call good behavior...disrepecting parents, lying, adultery, murder, worshipping flase Gods, etc etc. Oh I'm sure thumpers could give me a bunch of goofy reasons, but the fact is...you don;t know for sure either. And to say you do is arrogant.

What if God has created all these different kinds of people, just to see how you do treat your fellow man? What if it is all one big test of your love, compassion and tolerance for others? Who's in trouble then?

Homosexuality has nothing to do with the earth being populated. Read what the bible has to say:
Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
Romans 1:18-32
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
1 Timothy 1:9-11

Being bi-sexual is the same as homosexual in God's eyes--it's a sin. However, know that God loves you as He does anyone else. He just hates the sin.

People should stop breeding for at least ten years. We are already overpopulated. This wouldn't end mankind. Just drastically reduce the overcrowding. Or people should take a common sense and responsibility test at a young age. Those who don't pass should be sterilized. Survival of the fittest.
Gay people should be left alone to make their own decisions. And have the availability of the same rights and oppressions as the rest of us.

Well since the world is already dangerously over populated the best thing to do is be gay and DON'T HAVE ANY CHILDREN!!! It's the best thing one person can do to save earth, stop having kids.

I think there's a part in the bible about some town called Gommora or something that was full of gays.

Jesus never talked about "populating the earth." He also never talked about gay people.

Jesus healed gay people and respected gay relationships the centurion who asked Jesus to heal his slave did so at great risk to himself. Why would he do that for a slave it was because he loved him. Jesus recognized that love and healed his slave. Jesus did refer to homosexuals in his times they where called eunuchs they where eunuchs from birth. and the Pharisees forbid them to worship in the temple Jesus said they where welcomed into the kingdom of heaven. So you religious bigots need to read your bible with an understanding of what the translated parts really mean.
